Cakes

I have found another hobby.... CAKES. It is the best of both worlds. I get to cook AND do fun, colorful designs. Martha, my roommate, gave me cake decorating classes for my Christmas present. The class started a week ago. It is so much fun.
This is my first cake for class.

I made this one for my roommate Sarah's graduation.

This cake we just made for fun at school. We had to make Italian Meringue Frosting. It was really hard. After 3 tries we finally got it.

This one was for my friend Laura's birthday. It was the tastiest of them all. The outside is made of whip topping and yogurt. So good!

Valentines Flowers

Martha and Sarah helped me make an arrangement with the extra flowers. I really like what they did with the spikes at the bottom. It really speaks Love to me.

I love Valentines Day because its another great excuse for flowers!

Prom

North Summit High's Class of 2011 Junior Prom.
We have a unique tradition at our school of inviting the community to the Prom. Not only that but the Junior Class performs a promenade. They pick a song weeks in advance and they practice before school. I think it almost killed Bryant. Not only did he have to wear a tux but he had to dance around in it in front of the entire community.

Making the corsage for Bryant's date.

The corsage I made for Bryant's date.

The family waiting for the festivities to start. Jay went with classy.

Bryant being announced. Sorry, this was the best I could do. It was dark.

Promenade! (Bryant is second from the left in the video with just the boys)

Strawberries

This is one of the funnest things I've learned how to do in Culinary School. It is easy but kind of time consuming. For the boys: You first dip half of the strawberry in white chocolate, once that cools then dip them in milk chocolate to make the jacket. Use a toothpick to draw on the tie and buttons. The tie is easiest if you just make two drips close to each other then make those drips onto triangles. For the girls: just dip the whole thing in white chocolate, let them cool then draw on the necklace and sash.
Yummmmm.......
