My "#12 Grimmauld Place" Gingerbread House

In October at Culinary School we started building gingerbread houses for the competition at Thanksgiving Point. I decided to make #12 Grimmauld Place from Harry Potter.
One of the funnest parts was stamping and painting the gingerbread. I stamped the gingerbread before I baked it then literally painted it with food coloring.
It was easiest to decorate most of it before putting it all together. I used hard candy for the windows and royal icing for all the decorations

After months of work... here I am in my culinary outfit and my finished house!

The next morning I came in (the day before the competition, mind you) and somebody punched in my house! Not a very nice thing to do. To this day I'm not sure who it was. The most I can figure it was a Lord Voldemort supporter... or the Anger Management class.
I thought it was over but my class and teacher encouraged me to try and fix it...

Not as good as the original but for being smashed to pieces, not too bad.

In the end, despite the hate crime, I won 2nd place!! And I won a Blendtec. Not too bad.
I cant wait till next year. I learned my lesson though, to not get mixed up with the Dark Arts and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.

The Morning Benders

I listen to this song probably 3 times a day. I don't know what it is. I think I may be in love with Chris Chu, the main singer. What an amazing voice!!!!

Enjoy! (Skip the talking at the beginning and the end)

Dreaming of Hawaii

I am laying in my bed with my electric blanket on high and my space heater going full blast while it dumps snow outside. I listened to Christmas music today because it just feels like nasty winter. It literally is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. It's times like this when I seriously question why I live in Utah. The only way to get through times such as these is to change you desktop wallpaper to a tropical beach and look at pictures of summer and trips to Hawaii while listening to Damien Rice.

ahhhhhhhhhh......much better now.
